The Parade

Liverpool’s connection to Ireland runs deep — from generations of Irish families who helped shape the city’s docks and neighbourhoods, to the shared traditions of music, dance, and community spirit that remain at the heart of local life today. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade has long been a proud symbol of that connection.

Before 2015, parades were organised by various community groups, often on a smaller scale and usually held outside the city centre. While these events kept the tradition alive, Liverpool — home to one of the largest Irish populations in Britain — had long deserved a celebration that matched the scale of its heritage.

That moment arrived in 2015, when the Liverpool St. Patrick’s Day Group brought the parade back into the city centre after many years’ absence. Their passion and dedication transformed it into a major cultural celebration, with thousands of people filling the streets each March 17th to enjoy vibrant processions, live music, and Irish dance. The event became one of Liverpool’s most anticipated annual spectacles, drawing visitors from across the region and reaffirming the city’s deep ties to Ireland.

In 2025, Fields of Éire proudly took over the running of the Liverpool St. Patrick’s Day Parade, continuing its legacy while expanding its vision. Our mission is to celebrate the rich cultural relationship between Liverpool and Ireland, not just through tradition but as a living, evolving expression of Irish identity in the city today.

The parade always takes place on St. Patrick’s Day itself — 17th March, marking the occasion on its true date rather than the nearest weekend. In 2026, the parade will take place on Tuesday 17th March 2026, once again bringing the sounds, colours, and spirit of Ireland into the heart of Liverpool.

Under Fields of Éire, the event continues to grow, featuring Irish dance academies, community organisations, musicians, schools, and local businesses. We’re committed to keeping it inclusive, family-friendly, and true to the heritage it represents — celebrating the unity, pride, and shared history of Liverpool’s Irish community for generations to come.
